Job Title: EHS Specialist

Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and proactive EHS Specialist to join our Minnesota team. In this key role, you will work closely with the EHS Manager to foster a positive environmental, health, and safety culture. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring compliance, reducing liability, and providing essential training—from forklift certification to emergency response. What You’ll Do:

• Manage federal, state (Minnesota), and local regulatory aspects of safety programs, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, company policies, and guidelines.
• Assist in the preparation, submission, and documentation of all EPA and OSHA reporting requirements, including OSHA 300 Log, Hazardous Waste Generators Annual Report, Air Emissions Annual Inventory Report, Tier II Report, and TRI Report.
• Partner with the HR Manager to oversee the Employee Safety Committee, monitor Safety Boards, and administer safety events.
• Work with the EHS Manager to audit safety policies to ensure compliance with federal and Minnesota state regulations and stay updated on statutory changes.
• Recommend and administer safety training to improve company-wide safety practices.
• Communicate safety policies and requirements to employees, supervisors, and management, providing support to achieve departmental safety goals.
• Document and investigate work-related accidents and illnesses within corporate guidelines.
• Participate in all OSHA recordable and environmental incident investigations.
• Collaborate with HR and EHS Managers to review workers’ compensation claims and identify potentially fraudulent claims.
• Partner with HR/EHS Managers and insurance carriers to facilitate the safe return of workers’ compensation employees to work.
• Facilitate OSHA-mandated training and retraining (e.g., fire safety, first aid, environmental compliance).
• Perform all special duties as required; this is a hands-on role.

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety, Human Resources, or a related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Strong knowledge of Minnesota environmental and safety regulations.
• Experience working with the Metropolitan Council of Environmental Services (MCES) is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of prior safety experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Classroom and hands-on training experience.
• Knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, EPA, and MPCA statutes and recommendations.
