Overview
The Lease and Rental Sales role will be responsible to train under the mentorship of the Director of Sales and other dealership personnel assigned to mentor specific functions/disciplines. This role will be tasked with effectively selling lease and rental products throughout an assigned market area.
Responsibilities
- Attend all MPG, Peterbilt, and third party training classes and sales meetings as assigned.
- Study truck and equipment specifications to improve knowledge of product performance and application.
- Gather market data and conduct research.
- Collaborate with fellow employees and suppliers.
- Develop an account plan for area target accounts.
- Develop customer relationships.
- Assist with MPG marketing activities, including posting trucks on publication websites, print media, and other promotions; produce walk around videos.
- Develop compelling customer presentations that clearly define the lease value story and benefits.
- Secure customer commitments and follow up on all details pertaining to orders and transaction paperwork, contracts, and insurance.
- Conduct safety meetings for existing lease customers and review driver qualification files to ensure maintenance by customers.
- Attend industry events, open houses, golf outings, and other related activities.
- Maintain professional appearance and perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: High School graduate or GED required.
- Experience: Prior experience in heavy-duty truck sales, lease, and/or rental preferred.
- Computer skills: Moderate to intermediate proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, databases, e-mail, and CRM software.
- Language: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business materials; write reports and business correspondence; present information effectively and respond to questions or inquiries.
- Mathematical: Ability to perform basic math, including discounts, percentages, statistics, and algebra concepts.
- Reasoning: Strong listening, comprehension, and appropriate response skills.
- Licensing: Must have a valid CDL drivers license or be able to obtain one within six months of hire and meet insurability requirements.
- Travel: Approximately three days per week for customer contact and follow-up on scheduled appointments.
Physical Demands and Environment
- Constant use of computer and office equipment.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions as needed.
- Lift up to 25 pounds and navigate typical field/office environments.
- Noise level is usually moderate; occasional exposure to moving parts.
- Daily activities include sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
