Overview Division: First Alliance Home Mortgage – Wholesale Channel Position: Senior Mortgage Underwriter – DE/LAPP/SAR Location: Remote Reports To: Chief Operating Officer We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mortgage Underwriter to join our growing wholesale team. This critical role requires a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional who holds DE authority for FHA loans and LAPP/SAR certification to underwrite VA loans. The candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of underwriting experience, deep knowledge of agency guidelines, strong judgment, and the ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment. As part of our expansion, this role is central to our commitment to excellent broker service and quality underwriting. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the CEO, COO, and EVP of Operations, and our executive management team to ensure efficiency, compliance, and broker satisfaction across the wholesale channel. Responsibilities Independently underwrite FHA, VA, and conventional loan files. Ensure compliance with all agency, investor, and company guidelines. Apply credit policy and risk management principles consistently and fairly. Communicate clearly with processors, originators, and brokers regarding loan conditions and decisions. Ability to grow into a management position and mentor junior underwriters and support training efforts across the department. Provide timely and accurate feedback to management on potential workflow improvements. Participate in cross-functional meetings to refine and optimize the wholesale underwriting process. Qualifications Active DE Certification (required) Active LAPP/SAR Approval (required) Minimum 10 years of experience underwriting residential mortgages Strong understanding of FHA, VA, and conventional guidelines Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Personable, professional, and a true team player High level of integrity and sound judgment Experience working with Optimal Blue, Encompass, or similar LOS is a plus Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Full-time Job function Finance and Sales #J-18808-Ljbffr First Alliance Home Mortgage
