Volunteer: Marketing Communications Lead About The Third Place for Kids The Third Place for Kids is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and social enterprise creating community spaces where neurodivergent and disabled children (and their families) feel safe, welcomed, and fully understood. Our flagship center in Parker, Colorado combines sensory-informed design, custom play structures, and wrap-around family support. By removing barriers, we help families build relationships, find community, and feel more connected in everyday life. Why Join Us Now The Third Place is at an inflection point, early interest has exceeded projections, and our impact is growing rapidly. We have proven demand for our model and are exploring the best way to extend our reach while protecting quality and mission integrity. The Expertise We’re Seeking We’re looking for a Marketing Communications Lead (Volunteer) who can bring creativity, design sense, and clear communication skills to our team. This role is perfect for someone who loves crafting aesthetically pleasing, brand-aligned content and wants to see their work make a direct impact. Key Responsibilities Design, draft, and distribute engaging email newsletters to members and supporters. Manage member communications, ensuring families feel informed and connected. Create visually appealing marketing emails templates that align with our brand identity. Collaborate with staff on storytelling, sharing family impact, programs, and events. Help refine brand voice and consistency across all communications. Skills & Experience Strong writing and editing skills with attention to tone and clarity. Experience with email platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, MailerLite, or similar). Brand/design eye, comfortable in Canva, or similar tools to produce visually appealing content. Organized and detail-oriented; able to manage projects independently. Previous marketing, communications, or design experience (professional or academic). Nonprofit experience is a huge plus. Commitment & Expectations Volunteer role with flexible hours, approx. 1-2 hours/week. While the role will be virtual, we highly prefer candidates based in Colorado. Can be structured as an internship for students seeking credit or entry-level professionals looking to build their portfolio. Let’s Build Something That Should Have Always Existed. We believe that every family raising neurodivergent or disabled kids deserves a third place, not just home or school, but a place that sees them. If that mission resonates with you, we’d love to have you on our team.
